Make it stop !

The playoff countdown madness continues. Another week has passed with no significant separation or lead.
6 games left for Montreal. The first 4 playoff spots in the east have been secured. Ottawa will likely soon clinch the 5th spot. The last 3 are still anyone's guess  :)

The Restaurant Enterprise

Doin' it the hard way...

with two shootout losses and an out and out loss, they still managed to squeeze into 6th place. With only 8 games left, I'm still hopeful for a 5th place finish...go Habs !!

Beat by the Leafs :(

A heart-breaking shootout loss, but Montreal is still in good shape. That one point "loss" and other happenings is making things interesting, three teams with 79 points...we'll catch Ottawa yet :)

Montreal in 6th ??

As I write this, Montreal is in 6th place in the East. It might be short-lived though, since Philly just tied their game with a few minutes left...in any case, the Habs have won 6 in a row, and are now only one point behind Ottawa...
UPDATE: Philly lost in a shootout...Yes !!

Smucker's Goober !!!

Can someone tell me where to buy this stuff?? I can't find it anywhere.

Emergency Radio

In the event of a major weather bomb or some other massive power failure, "they" advise that in your 72-hour kit, you have some form of portable radio. This makes sense for keeping up on local news etc. Most likely, the batteries will be dead just when you need it most. Canadian Tire had a set of 2 short-wave radios on sale for $50 or so, but I'm too cheap for that. My PowerBox 800 has a radio built-in, but it's a bit "large":
So, I picked up a cheap Magnasonic Crank Radio for $10, half price at Crappy Tire. It has an LED flashlight in the end, and can be charged with a 4.5v adapter, or the built-in crank...a nice find. I'm becoming a bit of a "Prepper" aren't I ?

Habs getting better

Ok with a win tonight, that's five in a row for Montreal. That puts them 7 points ahead of the 9th place Rangers. I was hoping Philly would lose this afternoon since that would have put the Habs in 6th, but I mustn't be too greedy. At least they pulled off the must-win against the Bruins. I'm still predicting we'll finish the regular season in 5th in the East...

Guess what year ?

This is the one I was really after, an 18 footer. I had to settle for this 21 footer

Sometimes you're the Bug...

You've probably seen this before. I don't know about a 5th wheel "roofrack"...

Habs 4, Ducks 3

...gotta like it; after trailing 3-0 after the first period, Montreal claws back and scores 2 goals in the last 2 minutes to force overtime. Then they win in a shootout. Conveniently, Boston and Atlanta both lose their Sunday games, allowing Montreal to latch onto 7th place in the East. All this after dropping back to 10th earlier in the weekend. The run to the playoffs is going to be nerve-wracking :)

Hint of Spring

Officially, today's high was 6c, but I'm pretty sure it was more like 11c. Regardless, it prompted a Sunday afternoon BBQ, protein m-m-m-m...

March 1st 1914

Today my Father would be about 96 years old.He died almost 30 years ago at the age of 66. To those of you with living parents, please consider taking a minute to count your blessings...Time can only be spent. It cannot be saved. Spend it wisely.

Old Technology...amusing

I came across this graphic of my home network as it was about seven or so years ago. It's components made me chuckle, especially the ZIP drive with its 100mb cartridges. How seemingly useless this day in age. Imagine a stack of 80 of those disks about 3 feet tall holding as much as a thumbnail sized 8gig SD card.
OS/2? What's that?

IVECO...

This beauty has been roaming around Central Newfoundland lately. I just grabbed some photos of it for fun...
